Design and Review Process

We’ve developed the exterior design and review process to be as quick and enjoyable as possible.

Step 1

Start With a Home Plan

Once you’ve selected your lot and builder, you’ll work with them to determine a house floor plan. It may be a model your builder offers or a custom design.

As soon as the basic exterior design is established, your builder will contact us. He or she will share your plan and inspiration images (pictures from magazines, websites, etc.) for how you would like to enhance the home’s exterior look.

Step 2

Translating Your Vision

(7 working days)

Our design partner, Chris Hawley Architects, will review your ideas. Within seven working days, we’ll get back to you with a complimentary exterior illustration that translates your ideas, floor plan and builder’s input into an enhanced exterior design, much like the image above. If you’re already working with an architect or designer, this illustration step may not be necessary.

Design Review

(5 working days)

When you’ve had time to consider our design partner’s recommendations, and the final set of plans for your home are complete, your builder will submit these plans for final design review. Since we already worked with you in step 2, our goal is to make this step a formality. Within five working days, we will either approve the design with no changes or provide further exterior design suggestions. Once approved, you or your builder are ready to move forward with the lot closing.

Any changes after design approval must be submitted for further review. This includes any exterior modifications, such as landscaping, colors, window and door styles, etc.
