Preliminary Architectural Renderings Officially Released for New Elementary School in Rocking Horse Farm

Preliminary site plan for West Fargo K-5 Elementary School in Rocking Horse Farm (Subject to change).

Preliminary architectural renderings have been officially released for a new K-5 elementary school to be built in the 160-acre Rocking Horse Farm community in southwest Fargo.  Designed for the West Fargo Public School District by YHR Partners, it will be located on 10 acres of land just south of Rocking Horse Park directly adjacent to Veterans Boulevard and 51st Avenue South.  Construction is expected to start in April 2022 with a completion target of August 2023.

The West Fargo School District guided YHR Partners to design the school’s exterior to complement Rocking Horse Farm’s agrarian theme, which was established well before the community’s iconic Red Barn was constructed in 1999.  In addition, the school’s site plan has been designed to guide … and encourage … school traffic to directly access the school via Veterans Boulevard and 52nd Avenue South in order to minimize extra vehicular traffic within Rocking Horse Farm.

This new K-5 elementary school will accommodate about 480 students and help alleviate overcrowding, which supports the West Fargo School District’s focus on offering elementary education opportunities in smaller, neighborhood schools rather than mega schools. Rocking Horse Farm families with elementary-age children will have the convenience of attending this school within walking distance, in their very own community.
